Please note the following requirements for this dive:
- You must hold a valid SCUBA open-water diver certification with a minimum of 6 logged dives.
- If you are an open-water diver without deep dive training, we offer the option to complete this training with one of our certified instructors.
- If your last dive was over two years ago, we recommend taking a refresher course with one of our certified dive masters or instructors the day before the dive.
The trip departs from Alva Beach, offering convenient access to this incredible diving experience.

How to get there
Our S.S. Yongala trip departs from our dive shop at 36 Braby Street, Alva Beach, Ayr. Please meet at the dive shop at 7.30 am to get ready. Finally, the day finishes approx. 3.30 pm.
Important Information
Yongala Dive Important infomation
Reef taxes are to be paid directly to the operator on the day of travel: Taxes – $22.00 per person (inc Govt fees – Mooring $13.55, EMC $6.50 + admin fee)
This trip is weather and minimum numbers-dependent: If a trip is cancelled by the operator for any reason, a full refund will be provided if you cannot reschedule your trip. To confirm departure details and weather conditions, please call 07 4783 1519 between 3.30 – 5 pm on the day before your trip. We highly recommend travel insurance to cover any losses due to possible cancellations.
Finally, Deep Dive Training is required if you are an open-water certified diver. The training includes being guided by an instructor to the maximum depth (28m) of the wreck, where they will complete three deep-diving exercises with the diver. Once completed, the training will count towards the diver’s PADI advanced open water course. Cost is $25 pp.
Minimum Requirements:
To dive with us, you need to hold Open Water certification with 6 logged dives and deep dive training. Open Water divers must complete Deep Orientation dive (underwater skills) with a PADI Dive Instructor during the 1st dive at the wreck (extra cost applies). This may be counted towards the PADI Advanced course at extra costs (text book required). The more experienced divers can choose to dive with a buddy or take a guided tour at no extra cost.
Novice divers (those with less than 20 dives) should ensure they have refreshed their skills within the last six months and will be provided with a dive guide (if adventure or advanced certified) or may be required to take a Deep Orientation dive (extra cost applies).
Minimum age – 15 years of age (certification limits/supervision requirements).
